Tonight I went down to the garden after dinner to get some more dahlias planted. I had probably been working for about half an hour when I heard voices coming down the secret path. They grew louder until I spied some young guests coming in the garden gate! Needless to say I didn't get anymore work done tonight. Sometimes garden surprises are plants growing that you didn't expect and sometimes they are people arriving that you didn't expect. My little cousins from Michigan were an unplanned joy tonight. Kids and gardens. There aren't too many better ways to enjoy a summer evening than spending time with both.
